One of my favorite memories in his later years: We were all in St. Thomas and Lenny had just surprised me by showing up and with an engagement ring. I had thought I'd given him the correct size but it turned out to be too big. So Grandaddy took me aside and found some tape and helped me wrap the tape around the ring so it wouldn't fall off my finger. I was old enough to appreciate this gesture as it happened and knew I would remember it for years to come.

I will miss your Grandaddy, too. We had much fun in Emerald Isle. I, too, have a story that sticks with me about my Grandaddy. Sadly, he had died before I got married. But shortly after Josh and I began courting, Grandad told Josh, from his hospital bed, to take good care of me. I cant' wait to tell him what a good job he's done.

He was an amazing man and Grandfather. I miss him already and can't wait to see him again.
