Good Timing

Monday of last week we made a huge purchase: a new (old) car! We had been thinking about it for a while, ever since my VW lease ended last March, but the whole car buying experience was just so stressful, and we didn't have a clunker to trade in for the Cash for Clunkers deal (even though both of the cars we have been driving are almost 20 years old). I had been researching best car with a baby and that led us to Subarus. They have excellent safety ratings and all-wheel drive. And I liked the Forester because it's a little higher, so easier to get in and out with all the baby stuff, and the baby too. ;) Lenny found a few listed on Craig's List from a few different dealers. One of the dealers is near his work and he had gone there once before and didn't have a horrible experience even though he didn't end up buying anything. So, he went to see this car at lunch time, then brought me back after work and we bought it! Just like that! It has a few dings and scratches (but don't we all) and a few more miles on it that we were thinking, but it was in overall great shape and a great price.
We drove it home that night and then the following weekend we got this:
So, excellent timing. The storm hit us Saturday night and I think I took this pic Sunday night. It was over a foot of snow, which we don't get too often. I took this last pic earlier on Sunday, through our back screen door, in case you were wondering where the turkeys go in a blizzard (a few were huddled at the base of the tree and a few others were grouped together nearby). So I call this pic Cold Turkey.

  1. Those are some crazy turkeys...they need to go to Florida for the winter! As for your new (old) car, I think you've made an excellent choice, subarus seem to be very reliable and great in the snow. I also have heard they are great for toting cute little babies around town :)

  3. I love my Suburu and I bought it because it was so highly rated for safety! It has been in two major accidents and I was safe in both... I can't afford it anymore so I'm selling it now, but the fact that it was in two accidents and still worth more than I owe on it says a lot! Enjoy your new ride!
