So last night I was making Lenny and myself hot chocolate and as I was adding one of our family's favorite winter ingredients (for the 21+ crowd), peppermint schnapps, I was struck with another idea.
For the past several months we have had an after-book study tradition of going through the Wendy's drive-through. I think this became a tradition because after donating $1 to adoption, we got a coupon book for 10 free Jr. Frostys, which of course, you can only use one at a time. We have subsequently done this a couple more times and now have a glove compartment full of coupons for free Jr. Frostys.
One night I decided to jazz up my chocolate Frosty with a spoonful of Kahlua. Voila! Instant mini frozen mudslide for the cost of a few pennies. Now, several months later, I have finished said bottle of Kahlua (I'm sure there were also some White Russians thrown in there), but I decided last night I'm going to have to try a spoonful of peppermint schnapps in my Frosty next time. And really most any liquer would probably work quite nicely, as most everything goes with chocolate!

You are a freaking genius. I never thought about doctoring a frosty. I have a talk on Thursday which means I get an ice cream/milk shake/frosty of my choice. You know what I'll be doing this week. If you are not familiar with the toasted almond, you should become so. Equal parts amaretto and kahlua topped off with milk (or half and half...whatever you put in your coffee). On the rocks or neat or up for that matter.
ReplyDeleteYUMMY!!! Sounds delicious. I'll definitely have to try soon.
