Otra Vez! (Which means Again!, but doesn't it sound better in Spanish?)

Yes, my friends, it has happened again. Yesterday morning, right around dawn, Lenny lets out this exclamation of surprise similar to the one "Mr. Fix It" uttered at the law office where I work after he tapped on a loose ceiling tile and a dead mouse fell on him. Well there was no dead mouse involved this time, but the exclamation woke me up, so I said, "What?" and he said, "Bat!" The bat returned and was flying around our bedroom, flapping into walls and things. Lenny opened the door and I scrambled out, wrapped in the quilt from our bed. He called Dad and they once again set out to free the bat from the confines of our bedroom, which they did, how exactly I don't know.

Lenny figured out that the flue on the chimney actually was not closed all the way and he also taped up the area around the fireplace insert which has never been finished (add it to the list). After work he went up in the very hot attic, didn't find any bats, but did find some bat evidence, and taped up some more holes.

This morning, no bat in our room, but Lenny woke up again, thinking he heard something in the chimney. So I got up and went back to sleep downstairs. He left for work and I started getting ready for work, looking for a bat at every turn. When I went into the bedroom for my clothes, still no bat, but I definitely heard rustling in the chimney. So I think we have prevented him from coming into the house, but I don't like the idea of him stuck in the chimney! Especially when today is supposed to be the hottest day of all. Lenny is going to call a bat guy and see what they say.

  1. It's unlikely that the bat will get stuck in the chimney--he can exit the same way he entered.
