Parade Day

Yesterday was the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Newport and for the third year in a row I worked at the glass shop, directly on the parade route. This was the first year I took pictures, from a purely journalistic standpoint, of course, from my perfect look-out spot at the upstairs window, in between packing and shipping orders.
There were several groups of bagpipers in kilts which struck me more as Scottish than Irish...

Then there were other groups that definitely had nothing to do with Ireland but apparently just like to be in a parade, such as the Shriners...

People dressed like pirates...
And then towards the end it became a parade of old cars.
As for the crowd, it was a strange combination of families with young kids and drunken college students. I only had one drunk person come into the shop and she was definitely not a college student. While I was busy keeping my eye on her, another person knocked a glass pumpkin off the counter (it was fine) and the guy with the drunken lady knocked his head smack into the ornament display (they were fine too).
So it was another incident free Parade Day for me. I'm 3 for 3.
